Power, seduction, and betrayal blaze beneath the Egyptian sun in Handel’s most celebrated opera, where Caesar’s arrival sparks Cleopatra’s battle for the throne and love and empire collide in a tale of political intrigue and dangerous desire.

David Alden directed a thrilling production starring countertenor Tim Mead as Giulio Cesare and soprano Sarah Brady as Cleopatra, with Christian Curnyn conducting the period orchestra Early Opera Company in their Festival debuts.
